Nigeria Labour Congress Protests Secret Labour Party Convention, Calls for Chairman’s Sack

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) made headlines on Wednesday as they stormed the secretariat of the Labour Party, demanding the cancellation of the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for the end of this month. The Congress, in a strong statement, also called for the immediate removal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

Expressing their concerns, the NLC leadership accused Abure of orchestrating a “secret” convention without consulting major stakeholders, sparking outrage among union members and political observers alike.

This development has intensified the already simmering tensions between Abure, the NLC, and the House of Representatives caucus, setting the stage for a potential clash of interests within the party.

Despite their fervent protests, the NLC workers faced obstacles as they were denied entry into the party secretariat by the Nigeria Police Force, adding another layer of complexity to this unfolding political saga.
