Senator Ashiru sponsor constituents on Fishery Training

In the bid to enhance economy diversification at this critical time in the country, the senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Oyelola Ashiru, has sponsored ten Constituents to be trained on fishery at the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The training which exposed the participants to Record keeping, Hatchery, Packaging&Marketing, Production of fish foods, amongst other trainings in fish processing.

Speaking at the end of the two days training, Mr. Opeyemi Emmanuel, the director of Eleyin Ventures, recounted his high rate of mortality during hatchery, said the training has broadened his knowledge more on hatchery and that he can now hatch without recording mortality. Also he said he has added more knowledge on record keeping for aquaculture.

In the same vein, the chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Offa chapter, Mr. Adekeye Ishaq, applauds the Senator on this great move towards agricultural development. “I have learned more on fish processing, packaging and marketing for more acceptability, I will endeavor to pass the knowledge acquired to my members”. He assured.

The ten participants that were sponsored from the seven Local Government that made up the district, were given certificates and Fifty Thousand Naira each to add to their budding fishery business.
