The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is pleased to formally unveil one of the party’s respected leaders, a seasoned clergyman of over two decades, and former State Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State, Reverend Cornelius Olaosebikan Fawenu, as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Engineer Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, for the 2027 governorship election.
The governorship candidate, Engineer Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, had formally communicated his choice of Reverend Cornelius Olaosebikan Fawenu as his preferred running mate in a correspondence addressed to the State Chairman of the party after extensive consultations with party stalwarts, leaders, and key stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State.
In his letter, Engineer Kawu described Rev. Fawenu as a man of proven integrity, humility, compassion, and exceptional leadership whose emergence reflects the party’s commitment to presenting a competent, inclusive, and people-oriented ticket capable of restoring purposeful governance to Kwara State.
The party In a statement issued in Ilorin on Tuesday and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyment), stated that a Babaloma born Rev. COS Fawenu, who currently serve as Kwara South Senatorial Chairman of the PDP, will run the gubernatorial ticket with Engineer Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, the Daniyan of Ilorin, who had earlier emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
The PDP proudly informs Kwarans at home and in the diaspora that the emergence of Reverend Fawenu followed extensive consultations, deliberations, and a rigorous selection process involving the party’s governorship candidate and critical stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of the state.
The party said Kale Kawu-Fawenu ticket combines experience, innovation, grassroots engagement and religious balancing, adding that the party has positioned itself to rescue and secure Kwara and it’s people from the current misgovernance and insecurity
Rev. Fawenu, a 53-year-old principled servant of God and the Presiding Pastor of Oasis of Wisdom Bible Church, Ilorin, was among four eminent personalities shortlisted for the position of Deputy Governor. He emerged as the preferred choice based on his outstanding leadership credentials, loyalty to the Party, commitment to the party’s ideals and values, and his immense contributions to promoting peaceful governance, religious harmony, and community development in Kwara State.
Brief Profile of Rev Fawenu
A graduate of Biochemistry from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Rev. Fawenu is a distinguished Pentecostal minister, respected interfaith advocate, public policy enthusiast, and champion of good governance.
With over 23 years of ministerial experience, he has consistently built bridges across religious divides, promoted peaceful Muslim-Christian coexistence, and actively engaged traditional institutions and communities in advancing peace, dialogue, and sustainable development.
The party is confident that the Kawu/Fawenu ticket embodies the competence, integrity, experience, and inclusive leadership required to rescue Kwara State from the last eight years hardship and insecurity and place it firmly on the path of sustainable development, economic prosperity, social justice, and accountable governance.
