The regular culture of every straying political office holders is that they are friendly during the electioneering period that precedes elections and subsequently swearing-in to their respective offices.
Politicians that fall into this category will promise heaven on earth while campaigning to their people. They make available a well prepared manifestos, which will never see the day light after they have gotten the votes they wanted and ascended into their respective offices.
However, the present Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has exemplified himself on the contrary. On a norm, many who voted for him and loads of people who voted against him would have expected that he acts contrary to his campaign promise of making Kwara works for all.
Astonishingly, the Governor has so far held his ground on building the new Kwara, Kwarans could proudly call home. This brought about two popular slangs, Iseya and Isenlo. These two slangs is housing a lot of Kwara developmental projects.
With the Governor developmental projects, he has been clearing the doubts of many Thomases inside and outside Kwara. With his proactiveness, many of us who voted him are further reassured of his commitment, to better the life of all Kwarans by providing business enabling environment for all and sundry.
In the same vein, as the Corona Virus broke out in the Country, Governor Abdulrazaq has been exemplary in facing the pandemic head on by proactively putting in place measures to curtail its spread in the State. These measures started after when he came back from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on the 19th of March, 2020 by following the NCDC safety guidelines and self isolating himself for the recommended 14 days.
The Governor also constituted a technical committee chaired by his deputy, Kayode Alabi for the pandemic and the committee were saddled with duties to be at the front line to battling the virus outbreak in the state. This committee moving forward later got a sub committee chaired by Emir of Shonga, on palliative and relief materials distribution to the vulnerable and less privileged.
The State Government in it proactiveness before even recording any case of the pandemic has set up isolation centers in the state. Embarked on sensitization tour across the state. The tour by the state technical committee was targeted at Emirs, Obas, district heads, Alanguas, religious leaders et all. The sensitization readied citizens across the state for eventualities.
The State Government in it efforts to avoid spread of this global pandemic, embarked on disinfecting exercise. This said exercise was done and is going on in markets, religious places, stadium, motor parks and other strategic locations across the state. Fumigation of the aforementioned places was supervised by the State technical committee on the pandemic.
The Governor also procured ambulances for the pandemic response team so if contacted for any possible case will swiftly move to the location for easy evacuation of patients to treatment centre.
This and many others, where the Governor is continuously showing his readiness to serve Kwara and Kwarans have marked him as someone who is always up to the task and face challenges head on. This further shows the governor has done right his assignments before contesting the seat in the 2019 general elections.
This is a governor many naysayers/oppositions alike have ran bad mouth about, before coming out from his self isolation, but on coming out, he has shut them out again.
This is a governor who unlike many other Governors doesn’t like media hype because he believes his impact in the state will speak for him.
