Bandits abducted at least 87 villagers from Gangere and Aguna communities in Kaduna State’s Kajuru Local Government Area, sparking concerns over escalating insecurity in the region.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, with details remaining scarce as the victims were whisked away to an unknown location. Ben Yuhana, a resident and youth leader, confirmed the abduction, stating, “Bandits entered Gangere and Aguba villages in Kufana District Kufana Chiefdom Kajuru LGA and kidnapped 87 persons between yesterday night and the early hours of today. I will keep you updated.”

While the state government and police authorities are yet to issue official statements, concerns mount over the safety and whereabouts of the abducted villagers. The overseeing commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, has not responded to inquiries, while the Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, promised to revert with details but has not done so as of the time of this report.

The incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures in Kaduna State and the wider region, as communities grapple with the persistent threat of banditry and kidnapping.
