The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ramped up its ongoing restructuring efforts by dismissing a fresh batch of 40 employees, primarily from the Development Finance Department (DFD), according to a Daily Trust report.

The latest sackings, announced late Friday, included key personnel such as Musa Zgabawa Bulus, an Assistant Director overseeing the National Collateral Registry (NCR), a critical initiative by CBN aimed at bolstering financial access for Nano Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through movable assets.

Deputy directors and assistant directors bore the brunt of the dismissals, with 22 from the DFD and the remaining 18 from the Medicals and Procurement Services Department. This development follows a prior round of staff cuts that affected 27 individuals, predominantly directors within CBN.

Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of CBN, appears to be driving this series of workforce adjustments, with the total number of affected staff now reaching 67. The restructuring underscores CBN’s commitment to organizational optimization amidst ongoing industry changes.
