Uzodimma renames Heroes Square Owerri after Rear Admiral Godwin Ndubisi Kanu

His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has renamed the popular Heroes Square Stadium in the heart of Owerri, the Imo State capital, after the late Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, the first Military Administrator of the Old Imo State.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed this at a brief ceremony to receive the body of the Late Admiral Kanu on Wednesday at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, as part of activities to mark his Lying-in- State and Commendation Service at the Imo State Government House.

According to Governor Uzodimma the Late Military Administrator of Imo State from 1976 to 1977 brought in a lot of developmental projects to the State, including the engagement of Town Planners for the development of the State.

“As we eulogize him for his outstanding performance as the Military Governor of Imo State, by an Executive Order, the Heroes Square is now renamed Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu’s Square”. Uzodimma Stated.
