President Bola Tinubu has officially presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Edo governorship candidate, and his running mate, Rep. Dennis Idahosa. The flag presentation ceremony, held in Abuja on Monday, marks a significant step towards the upcoming elections in Edo State.
During the presentation, President Tinubu expressed his unwavering support for the candidates, likening their determination to the steadfastness of the wall of Gibraltar. He emphasized the importance of victory and pledged to work tirelessly alongside Okpebholo and Idahosa to secure success for the APC.
“If you are happy; we are happy. If you are determined; we are determined. We are going to work with you. We are going to stand with you like the wall of Gibraltar. That is all I can assure you. The party is supreme, but victory is superior and very important,” President Tinubu stated.
Acknowledging their efforts and dedication, Tinubu praised Okpebholo and Idahosa as “giant killers” who have tirelessly worked with the party leadership. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State woman leader Lady Betty Okoebor, and other aspirants from the governorship race.
Dr. Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, highlighted the unity of purpose within the party and expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s capabilities. “Our candidate is soft-spoken, focused, and an achiever. He is a product that is highly marketable, and I am confident that with him as our flagbearer, we will bring Edo back to our party,” Dr. Ganduje affirmed.
The flag presentation underscores the APC’s strategic positioning and determination to secure victory in the forthcoming elections in Edo State, with President Tinubu’s endorsement serving as a rallying call for party members and supporters.
