The incident, which took place on March 14, 2024, resulted in the loss of a Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, twelve soldiers, and one civilian.
President Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief, mourned alongside the entire nation, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers. He extended heartfelt condolences to their families, colleagues, and loved ones, promising that those responsible for this “cowardly” and “heinous crime” will face justice.
The President emphasized the unwavering commitment of his government and the military high command to bring the perpetrators to book, stressing that any attack on the armed forces is an attack on the nation itself. He granted full authority to the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff to ensure swift and decisive action against the culprits.
