Following the inauguration of the Presidential Council on Digital Economy and E-government by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and the subsequent appointment of Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) to chair on his behalf, Minister Pantami presided over the inaugural meeting of the council held today at the Communications and Digital Economy Complex, Abuja.
In attendance at the meeting include Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, representative of the South East Region, Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, representative of South-South region, representatives of the Kaduna State Governor and Lagos State, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State.
Others present included the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. M.B Abubakar, Managing Director, Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, Dr. Abimbola Alale, Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa and Director General, National Identity Management Commission, Engr Aliyu A. Aziz.
Also present were Professor Kabiru Bala, Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira, Professor Nnenna Oti, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, representatives of the Academia, Prof. Simon Adesina Sodiya, President Nigeria Computer Society and Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) among others.
