The State Government of Osun has released the sum of N508million for the payment of pension to retired workers of the State’s Civil Service.

The State’s Head of Service (HoS), Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo, the State capital.

He said Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had also approved the immediate release of additional N150million to pay the entitlements of selected retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme and another N50million to offset part of gratuities of retired officers under the old pension scheme.

This brings to N708million the latest amount released by the State Government for the payment of entitlements of retired workers in the State.

Oyebade explained that the beneficiaries were selected based on merit, adding that names of the selected retirees had been posted on notice boards at the State Ministry of Information and Strategy, State Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of service.

The HoS who said payment to the beneficiaries would commence on Tuesday, 8th September, 2020, enjoined retirees to check the notice boards for their names.

He assured that the current administration of Governor Oyetola would continue to prioritise the welfare of serving and retired workers in the State.

“I assure all workers, both serving and retired that all efforts will be mustered to always give their welfare the pride of place it deserves”, he said.
