Ogun Unveils Odunlade Adekola as health insurance ambassador

In a bid to intensify the promotion of universal health coverage, the Ogun State Government has unveiled the ace nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola as the brand ambassador of its Health Insurance Scheme.

Speaking at the glamorous event which as held at the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency ( OGSHIA) in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said the move was a follow up to the formal launch of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund ( BHCPF) and Health Insurance for the informal sector on February 6, 2022.

Coker, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding( MoU) on behalf of the state government with the brand ambassador, said the health insurance scheme has multiple schemes in one basket such as the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund which affords vulnerable, including children below age 5 and senior citizens above 65 years years of age, access to free healthcare, noting that 50,000 people have so far being registered on the scheme on the scheme.

She pointed out that the health insurance for informal sector involves the payment of N1,000 on a monthly basis to secure free healthcare that will cover common illnesses.

The Commissioner said that the choice of multi talented Adekola as the brand ambassador for the Ogun State Health Insurance was informed by his fame, brilliance and impacts in the movie industry, saying that he would influence the promotion in engaging the public in the insurance process.

” The health insurance scheme has multiple schemes in one basket. We have registered 50, 000 vulnerable people in the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund and the Health insurance for the informal sector running actively since its formal launch by Governor Dapo Abiodun in February.

” Our multi talented brand ambassador, Odunlade Adekola, is a familiar face to many people given his brilliance and fame. I am confident that he would be contribute effectively to our efforts to engage the public in our insurance process,” Coker said.
