the Nigerian Army has successfully rescued abducted school pupils from Kaduna Kuriga, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against insecurity in the country.

The rescue operation, which took place in the early hours of 24 March 2024, was a collaborative effort involving the military, local authorities, and government agencies. The hostages, totaling 137 individuals comprising 76 females and 61 males, were safely recovered in Zamfara State and will be transferred to the Kaduna State Government for further actions and care.

This successful rescue follows a series of coordinated efforts by the armed forces to combat terrorism and secure the release of innocent hostages across different regions. Just days prior, on 21 March 2024, troops rescued 16 pupils (Almajiris) and a woman who were taken hostage in Gada LGA of Sokoto State, reinforcing the military’s commitment to protecting civilians and bringing perpetrators to justice.

Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, emphasized the armed forces’ determination to locate other hostages and apprehend the terrorists responsible for these heinous crimes. Efforts are also underway to track down those behind the recent killings of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, ensuring that justice prevails and perpetrators are held accountable under Nigerian law.

The successful rescue missions and ongoing operations showcase the unwavering resolve of Nigeria’s armed forces in safeguarding its citizens and combating terrorism, sending a strong message that such acts will not go unpunished.
