The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council in Kwara state has called for the cancellation of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria following the verdict of international observers that the election was lacking in transparency.
The International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) Joint Election Observation Mission (IEOM), said that despite the 2022 Electoral reforms, the 2023 election fell well short of citizens’ expectations.
The Joint Election Observation Mission which was led by the former President of Malawi, Dr. Joyce Banda said logistical challenges and multiple incidents of political violence overshadowed the electoral process.
After carefully studying results from over 2000 polling units across Kwara state and in accordance with the reports from our forensic experts, the Kwara state PDP campaign council also agrees with the verdict of these international observers as elections held across different locations in the state were marred by widespread irregularities, manipulation and malpractice.
There are also evidences available before us of financial inducement of voters and the electoral umpire by agents of the state government to compromise the election in favour of the ruling party.
The results announced therefore is contrary to the will of the people and we call upon INEC to not only cancel the ongoing declaration but also call for a fresh rerun in the state.
