KEL Appoints New Head of Media and Public Relations

Kwara Emerging Leaders, a group of young professionals who are deeply passionate about politics, public service, policy and governance has announced the appointment of Dare Akogun, a News Editor with SOBI 101.9fm, as the new Head of Media and Public Relations of the group.

A statement by its Convener, Seun Awogbenle, on Sunday March 7, 2021, said Akogun’s over 10 years experience in the print and broadcast media which cut across reporting, editing, live commentary, programme presentation and production makes him a perfect fit for the role.

“Truly pleased to announce the appointment of Dare Akogun as our New Head, Media and Public Relations. Akogun’s record as a thoroughbred professional and journalist who knows his onions is never in doubt.

“Akogun’s demonstrated capacity and competence has won him several reporting training, award nomination and grants from International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), Thomas Reuters Foundation and nomination for the ICFJ Knight International Journalism Awards,” he said.

Awogbenle said he had no doubt that Akogun’s appointment will drive the group towards the actualisation of its vision which is to ensure that young people are at the forefront of leadership selection, decision and outcome.

He also restated the group’s commitment to lead Kwara’s young people towards greater political inclusion and participation.
