To ensure that the state has a sufficient supply of water, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri signed a policy on Thursday that addressed harmonized water resources and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other development partners worked with the State Ministry of Water Resources to create the policy.

Speaking before approving the policy in his office, Governor Umaru Fintiri noted that improving the state’s economic health and human well-being are two of his administration’s main concerns, and water is a vital component of both.

He clarified that his administration had made significant progress in the water sector and added that the strategy would encourage government investment in the area, creating opportunities for increased internal revenue collection (IGR).

Governor Umaru Fintiri promises that the State Government will carefully follow the water policy’s requirements, and he thanks the development partners for making the policy a reality.

Earlier, Malam Ayuba Audu, the Commissioner of Water Resources, expressed gratitude to the development partners for their tireless efforts in assisting the ministry in bringing that policy to fruition.
