The Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has promised more Government support for the Healthcare sector in the State.
Governor Uzodimma made this promise when he declared open, the 12th annual conference of the Nigerian Neurological Surgeons held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The Governor in his address commended the neurosurgeons for choosing Imo for their National conference which further proves that Imo is secure.
He also rolled out the numerous achievements of the Shared Prosperity Government in the Health sector ranging from the ongoing reconstruction of 305 Primary Healthcare centres in the 305 election wards, the ongoing reconstruction of 19 Secondary Healthcare centres, the revival and accreditation of the teaching hospital in Orlu which has graduated 400 medical doctors in 3 batches, to the revival of the Specialist Hospital Umuguma where complicated surgeries like neurological surgeries are performed.
The Governor added that over 100 roads for easy access to hospitals in the State have been reconstructed.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Prosper Ohayagha Success commended the Governor for the support in the ministry.
It is worthy of note that Imo has continued to play host to many institutions, associations and groups as they made the state their choice to hold their National conferences under the safe governance of Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Present at the event were: the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase; the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Professor Placid Njoku; former INEC Chairman and Chairman of the Occasion, Professor Maurice Iwu, Professor Samuel Ohaegbulem, father of neurosurgery in Nigeria, Government appointees and a host of neurosurgeons, and medical practitioners.
