Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri, today at his Government House residence received former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.
The former Governor who was on his way to Amassoma for the Amassoma “Seigbein oge” festival was received by Governor Diri, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and other top Government officials.
Governor Diri said, “For us today, we are so happy to host you, sir. You are one man that we hold in very high esteem. From your days as Governor of Delta State, you gave leadership not only to Delta State but to the Niger Delta region.
Your bonding between yourself and our late Governor, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha was second to none and that was why you were united in confronting the issues that confronted our people here in the Niger Delta. And so, for us, we see you as our own Governor the way we see the late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha.
And so, you are welcomed home, you are truly a son of Bayelsa,” Governor Diri stated.
In attendance were member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Leader of the State Assembly, Rt.Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo and other members of the House, Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, former National and State Assembly members, members of the State Executive Council and other top Government functionaries.
