Former Nigeria Labour Congress President Comrade Ali Ciroma Passes Away in Maiduguri

former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president Comrade Ali Ciroma has passed away in Maiduguri, Borno State. The news was confirmed by Ali Ciroma, Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Borno State Council, stating that Comrade Ciroma passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

Quoting the family’s statement, the announcement read, “It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of Comrade Ali Ciroma, former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress. The sad event occurred this evening at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.”

Comrade Ali Ciroma served as the NLC president from 1984 to 1988 and had a notable tenure as the president of the Rural Health Workers of Nigeria in 1960, which later evolved into the Medical and Health Workers Association. The burial is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at his residence along Galadima Road near Muhammadu Shuwa Memorial Hospital (Nursing Home), Maiduguri, as mentioned in the family’s statement.
