Federal Government Declares Free Train Rides on Newly Restored Port Harcourt to Aba Railway for 4 Days

The Federal Government has made a significant announcement, offering free passenger train rides for four days on the recently rehabilitated Port Harcourt to Aba railway. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Transport, aims to provide accessible transportation options and promote rail travel in the region.

The Ministry of Transport’s Permanent Secretary, Oloruntola Oluremi, unveiled this exciting development, highlighting that the complimentary train rides are scheduled from May 1st to May 4th. Oluremi emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and making public transport more convenient for citizens.

In a statement, Oluremi expressed, “This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to revitalize the railway system and encourage more people to experience the benefits of rail travel. We believe that providing free train rides will not only facilitate mobility but also showcase the modernization and efficiency of our railway networks.

“There will be free train ride between Port-Harcourt and Aba on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May 2024.

“The train will be departing Port-Harcourt everyday by 8am for Aba. It will also be departing Aba every day for Port -Harcourt by 3pm. Full commercial operations resume on Tuesday 7th May 2024,” the statement read s.

The Port Harcourt to Aba railway route, after undergoing extensive rehabilitation, promises a comfortable and reliable journey for passengers.
