Cabinet Reshuffle: Buhari Makes Momora, Sambo Substantive Ministers, Redeploy Saraki, Ikeazor

President Muhammadu Buhari has reshuffled his cabinet, following the resignation of some ministers who expressed interest to contest elective offices in the 2023 general elections.

Recall that Messrs Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu and Godswill Akpabio had resigned their ministerial appointments to contest in the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primaries.

Two other ministers, Sani Nanono and Sale Mamman, were however relieved of their appointment by the President.

Mr Buhari had nominated to the Senate, seven candidates to fill in the vacant ministries.

While swearing-in the seven new ministers during the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, the President also assigned new portfolios to some other ministers.

Adeleke Mamora, former Minister of State for Health has been appointed as the substantive Minister of Science and Technology.

Mu’azu Jaji-Sambo was also moved from the Ministry of Power to Ministry of Transportation as substantive Minister.

While Sharon Ikeazor and Gbemi Saraki retained their position as junior ministers, the duo were deployed to the new ministry.

Sharon Ikeazor, former State Minister for Environment, was deployed as Minister of State for Niger Delta, and Gbemisola Saraki, former State Minister for Transportation, was moved to the Ministry of Mines and Steel as State Minister.
