bandits have reportedly abducted an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada local government area of Sokoto state, as revealed by sources to Daily Trust. The kidnapping occurred in the wee hours of Saturday, marking yet another brazen attack on innocent lives.
Liman Abubakar, the school’s proprietor, expressed the harrowing ordeal, stating that 15 students were unaccounted for, with the count ongoing.
Abubakar lamented, “This incident came barely a day after the terrorists stormed a government school in Kaduna State and abducted over 270 pupils.”
Recounting the horrifying events, Abubakar shared, “As they were leaving the town, they sighted our students rushing into their rooms and they kidnapped many of them.”
He further revealed that this was not the first assault on the village by bandits.
Confirming the attack, Kabiru Dauda, the member representing Gada-East Constituency at the state House of Assembly, assured action was being taken. Meanwhile, in a related incident, bandits struck Turba village in Isa Local Government Area, claiming three lives, including the village head. Habibu Modachi, the representative of Isa Constituency, hinted at a possible reprisal following recent security operations against the bandits.
ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, expressed unawareness of the situation but pledged to liaise with local law enforcement for updates. As communities reel from the surge in terror activities, urgent measures are imperative to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable populations.
