Lagos food market, ‘Ounje Eko’ has kicked off discounted sales on essential food items across the state, following Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive. The initiative, which began on Sunday, March 17, offers staple foods like rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper at 25% off, benefiting residents in all five divisions of Lagos.
Security measures have been put in place with the presence of Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at the food markets to ensure a smooth and safe shopping experience.
Residents, including Mrs. Amaka who patronized the market, expressed satisfaction with the affordable prices, urging other state governors to replicate such initiatives. Mrs. Moshood also praised the state government for establishing the food markets, highlighting the convenience they bring to shoppers.
The ongoing efforts aim not only to provide economic relief but also to promote hygiene and cleanliness within the food markets, as urged by some residents who emphasized the importance of maintaining a good environment for vendors and traders.
