Anniversary: Engineer Sule commissions 15.5km, N2.49bn Sisinbaki/Kwarra road

Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has commissioned the 15.5km Sisinbaki/Kwarra road, estimated at N2.49bn.

Engineer Sule commissioned the road, on Saturday, as part of activities marking the second year of his administration.

According to the governor, his administration decided to construct the road in order to open up the potentials that abound in the Farin Ruwa area, especially after the federal government took over the construction of the Farin Ruwa dam project, previously initiated by the first civilian administration of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Engineer Sule stressed that his administration embarked on the construction of the road to open up opportunities in the area, which has been forgotten, particularly in agriculture and tourism.

The governor commended the Chinese construction company that handled the project, the CCECC, a highly reputable company delivery quality services across the country.

Engineer Sule equally appreciated major stakeholders in the community, especially the Gom Mama, HRH, Alhaji Bala Mustapha, for protecting the project and ensuring that there were no incidence of kidnapping or armed robbery.

The governor also commended the first civilian governor of the state, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, for initiating the project, aimed at generating hydropower, as well as providing water supply.

Engineer Sule announced that the Federal Government has taken over the construction of the Farin Ruwa dam, estimated to cost N8bn, with work since commenced, with a view to providing portable drinking water and hydropower.

He added that, recently, after a visit by the Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the FG, expressed willingness to promote the Farin Ruwa tourism site, with the area also identified as one of the newly created national parks.

Handing over the project to the state government, Managing Director of the CCECC Nigeria Limited, described the event as historic, with the projected completed in spite of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the contractor, the two-lane modern carriageway, will improve transportation and investment in the area.

Earlier, in a welcome address, state Commissioner for Works, Hon. Philip Dada, said the idea of the Sisinbaki/Kwarra road project, was conceived by the Engineer Sule administration, to access government and citizens of the country, particularly the people of Sisinbaki, Kwarra axis.
