- sues for sustainable peace
- we’ll reciprocate your good gestures with votes: Lade, Rogun communities
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday called for sustainable peace and adherence to relevant laws of the land in mineral exploration in Kwara North and other parts of the state.
“I congratulate you that God has made you find wealth on your land. I want to urge Your Highness and the entire community to manage the resources very well. The powers on solid minerals are vested in the federal government. So, while you are doing it, you should follow relevant laws and do what you are doing peacefully for the benefit of the state,” AbdulRazaq said at the All Progressives Congress campaign’s visit to the District Head of Lade Abubakar Haruna in Patigi local government area.
“I have seen progress unlike before in Lade. So, there would be much pressure from outside and within, unlike before. I urge you to prioritise peace.
“On the issues raised by His Royal Highness, we will address them one after the other. On the issue of doctors at Cottage Hospital and the ongoing road construction at the dispensary, we will get the contractors to do all necessary things.
On the desilting of Lade irrigation dam, AbdulRazaq urged the community leaders to forward their request for immediate attention.
“I am glad that His Royal Highness raised the issue of irrigation farming. You did not abandon farming because of the discovery of lithium. I urge you to continue to do the right things,” he added.
The governor solicited support for the candidates of APC at all levels, adding: “Senator Sadiq Umar has done well in the last three and half years. What he is doing here is being replicated all over the five local government areas in Kwara North. I implore you to vote for him and other candidates of our party. All our candidates are not strangers here. You have seen what we have done in the last three and half years. There have been changes. The biggest challenge we have now is the Tsaragi-Patigi road, and we will ensure that the next APC administration fixes it.”
Haruna, for his part, commended the governor for the ongoing work on Lade Cottage Hospital and the road construction.
“We are grateful to God for giving us a listening Governor. We are very grateful to God for giving us a governor who is concerned about the welfare of the people. He has done a lot of things for us in Lade even before he became governor he has always done well to us,” the monarch said.
“We have seen a lot of things you have done for us in Lade. We will reciprocate the good gesture by giving you one hundred per cent votes in Lade.
“Before you became the governor, you went to our Irrigation dam and gave us financial support. It is servicing the entire Lade district, and we thank Allah for that. We know the dam is not under the state government. It has some problems and we need your usual support because the canal is filled with sand. It needs disilting.”
The APC campaign, led by AbdulRazaq, has visited several communities in Patigi, including Kpada and Rogun.
District Head of Kpada, Alhaji Muhammed Usman Kpada, commended the governor for uniquely paying them visits both to show appreciation for the mandate in 2019 and for other official purposes
He confirmed that the government has attended to most of their requests in 2019, and appealed that the administration look into the remaining ones like deploying more school teachers and medical personnel for the community healthcare center, among others.
“Your Excellency, you are a unique Governor because in the history of politics in Kwara state there has been no single Governor who had ever come back to pay a ‘thank you visit’ as you did to our people for their massive support in the 2919 general elections, talkless of visiting us repeatedly. For this, we welcome and adore you,” he said.
