The Kwara State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of PengChao Zhang, also known as Williams Kaka, a Chinese national who was abducted by armed men near Eyenkorin, Kwara State, last Sunday. The police revealed that the rescue operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday, following diligent efforts by tactical teams and vigilantes.
According to Police spokeswoman Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), “Through diligent and coordinated efforts, the command’s tactical teams and vigilantes executed a series of strategic search and investigation leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of March 19, 2024.” She also confirmed that Zhang has been reunited with his family unharmed.
The successful rescue highlights the Kwara State Police Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in the state.
However, City & Crime sources have revealed that Zhang, a former employee of Erkang Quarry, was released by his abductors after an undisclosed ransom payment. A reliable security source mentioned that Zhang was released in a forest close to Shagamu, with the assistance of operatives from a nearby company.
