Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has put forward the name of Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo for confirmation as Chairman/CEO of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission, along with nominees for commissioner positions.
In a significant move towards bolstering regulatory measures in the energy sector, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has taken a decisive step by nominating Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo as the prospective Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Additionally, the Governor has proposed Mr. Chinedum Ukabara, Mr. Chuka Akunne, and Mr. Ruben Okoye as commissioners within the commission.
The formal submission of these nominations was made in a letter addressed to the state House of Assembly, which was read aloud by the Speaker, Chief Uche Ugwu, during an emergency plenary session convened on Monday.
Speaker Ugwu, in response to the nominations, has directed the nominees to furnish the Assembly with 25 copies of their curriculum vitae and to appear before the Assembly on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, for the critical screening and confirmation process.
Meanwhile, amidst these deliberations, the House also took a significant legislative step by passing the first reading of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Amendment Bill during the same plenary session.
