The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, has said that he did not loot Kaduna treasury to buy a house in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) just like some other governors did.
He said he had one house in Unguwan Sarki when he became governor and that is the only house he still has.
Speaking in a Hausa programme on the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), the governor threatened to expose former governors of the state who allegedly left a big hole in the accounts of the state treasury.
He warned that if they continued to talk, he would have no choice than to tell the world how they looted the money meant for development in the state and ferried some to UAE and other metropolitan capitals of Europe and America where they allegedly acquired properties.
According to him, “One of the former governors was allegedly complicit in a missing N500 million contract to reconstruct the popular Waff Road, as nothing was done on the road until I came as governor and turned the road into a dual carriageway. They looted the money, and now the person they gave the Waff Road contract is dead.”
“I challenge anybody who has knowledge of our government collecting 10 per cent commission from contractors, but these people were collecting that commission. I am a Quantity Surveyor, I know the quality of work they have done.”
