Oyo Assembly Queries Slow Implementation Of Amotekun Corp

The Oyo state house of assembly has expressed displeasure at the slow pace of implementation of the widely publicized South West Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corp in the state.

This is coming on the heels of the recent relaunch of attacks on residents of different parts of the state particularly the onslaught by yet unknown bandits who attacked some parts of Akinyele local government area of the state.

The house made this known during its Tuesday’s plenary, describing the attacks as avoidable and provocative.

Honourable Isiaka Arole who presented the issue before the house under matter of public urgent importance lamented the rate at which herdsmen have continued to migrate into the state without restrictions or checks despite the available laws.

He stressed that the executive arm should rise to the occasion by expediting actions on full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law.

Majority leader of the house, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, im his submission noted that despite the efforts put into and publicity that greeted the Amotekun law, it was unfortunate that the situation of bandits attacks seem to be on the rise and urged the state government to ensure full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law.

The Minority leader, Hon Ashimiyu Alarape, while speaking on the subject, gave kudos to security operatives over the swift response to the recent attack by the unknown bandits.

He also commended governor Seyi Makinde for his efforts and measures taking to improve security in the state, he however, described as unfortunate lives that were lost during the attack at Akinyele stressing that the bandits have registered their presence at Akinyele and Ogbomoso through the recent unabated attacks adding that if nothing was urgently done, nobody knows where the next attack will be.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, in his remark, said that the state government was making frantic efforts towards full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law adding that further discussions with the executive arm will follow the plenary deliberation in order to determine level of implementation.
