A new youth-led political and advocacy movement, the Coalition of Southern Nigeria Youth Groups for Asiwaju 2027 (COSONYGA-2027), was officially launched today in Abuja with a bold declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The coalition, which brings together grassroots youth organizations, tech professionals, political influencers, and social crusaders from the 17 southern states of Nigeria, described itself as a “policy-driven, non-violent movement” committed to consolidating the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration.
Speaking at the unveiling event, Executive Director of COSONYGA-2027, Rt. Hon. Rikki Nwajiofor, said the coalition is focused on youth mobilization, political education, and sustained engagement with governance processes.
“Today, we are not just launching a group—we are igniting a movement,” Nwajiofor said. “A movement built on vision, legacy, and continuity.”
The group cited key youth-focused initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, the newly established Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), the reintroduction of the Student Loan Act, and the creation of the Ministry of Creative Economy, among others.
Nwajiofor emphasized that President Tinubu has shown “unparalleled commitment to youth empowerment,” noting his appointments of young leaders across federal ministries and agencies, including the Minister of Youth Development and regional commission representatives.
“The President is not just engaging the youth rhetorically—he is investing in them,” he added.
The coalition outlined its core objectives, which include establishing a grassroots political structure from the national to the polling unit level, promoting voter registration, conducting leadership and empowerment programs, and engaging in digital and offline advocacy to consolidate support for Tinubu in 2027.
COSONYGA-2027 also praised recent reforms in local government autonomy, NYSC revitalization, and youth entrepreneurship funding, arguing that Tinubu’s policies have laid a “solid foundation for a modern Nigeria.”
“Four years is not enough to entrench life-changing policies,” said Nwajiofor. “Asiwaju deserves a second term to nurture these economic and social reforms to maturity.”
The coalition called on progressive-minded youth and stakeholders across the public and private sectors to partner in deepening civic education, supporting innovation, and championing inclusive development.
“This is our time. This is our chance to shape the Nigeria we want to inherit,” Nwajiofor declared.
The event concluded with a nationwide call to action using the hashtags #Asiwaju2027, #Youth4Tinubu, and #CoalitionForProgress—signaling what the organizers described as the beginning of a robust, youth-driven campaign across Southern Nigeria.
