Former Senate President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has urged party members across Kwara State and Nigeria to fully engage in the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise starting August 18, describing it as the foundation for success in the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting at his Ilorin residence on Tuesday, Saraki emphasised that active voter registration is both a civic duty and a political necessity. He urged members to mobilise their communities to register and secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“The voter registration beginning on August 18 is a crucial exercise. It marks the start of the electoral process, and we must treat it with the seriousness it deserves,” Saraki said. “Without widespread registration, our electoral goals may falter before the campaigns even begin.”

Saraki also addressed speculation surrounding his role in PDP’s national reconciliation efforts, explaining that his involvement is part of a broader strategy to build unity and reposition the party for victory in 2027. He assured party faithful of his unwavering commitment to strengthening the PDP at all levels.

He commended the Kwara State chapter of the party for its outstanding performance during the last membership registration drive, calling it a model for grassroots mobilisation. According to him, Kwara PDP’s discipline and structure remain an example for other states.

In his remarks, the Kwara State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed (rtd), reaffirmed the party’s cohesion and its status as the state’s leading opposition force. He declared that with unity and focus, the PDP is well positioned to reclaim political power in the state.

The meeting concluded with a unified call for intensified voter sensitisation across all wards and local governments, with Saraki pledging continued support to ensure the PDP’s readiness ahead of 2027.
