Former President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has started the distribution of rams and cash benefits to selected Islamic clerics in Ilorin Emirate and different youth groups in Kwara State.
The Press Officer on Home Matters to Saraki, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin, said many of the beneficiaries have started receiving their rams, and cash gifts.
Abdulqadir said that Saraki’s gesture which is an annual tradition, was handled by a committee led by Alhaji Musa Abdullahi and Comrade Lawal Olamilekan to enable the beneficiaries fulfil their Sallah obligation of animal sacrifice and to also celebrate the festival with joy.
He listed the beneficiaries of the goodwill to include Islamic clerics and youth groups.
“In his usual style of putting smile on the faces of the people in the society during festive periods, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, today, began the distribution of rams and cash gifts to selected Islamic Scholars in the Emirate and different youth groups in Kwara State.
“It is hoped that this gesture will enable the beneficiaries fulfil their religious obligation of animal sacrifice and also celebrate the festival with joy.
“The Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, while wishing Muslim faithful in Kwara a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration, urged them, particularly those who are well-to-do to show love and extend hands of support to the less-privileged around them, in the spirit of the Eid celebration.
