An appeal has gone to the Kwara State Government to declare a work-free day for more civil servants in the State to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Founder of The Adekunle Oyedepo Foundation, Prince Adekunle Oyedepo, made the appeal in a statement he released on Sunday evening in Ilorin, the State capital.
Oyedepo said this is to allow workers who are yet to register for their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) do so before the July 31 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the public holiday, if eventually granted by the government, would also enable public workers who had registered for their PVCs, but are yet to collect them, do so.
The Omu-Aran born enterprenuer and politician also called on all eligible Kwarans and residents of the State, who are yet to register to visit the nearest INEC registration centre and take advantage of the remaining few days to register for their PVC.
Oyedepo said this would enable them exercise their civic duty in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and elect their preferred candidates.
It would be recalled that the ongoing CVR exercise was extended by INEC to enable more Nigerians register for their PVCs ahead of next year’s general elections.
