Founder of The Adekunle Oyedepo Foundation, Prince Adekunle Oyedepo, has strongly condemned the rising spate of kidnapping activities in Kwara South, describing the situation as “deeply troubling and unacceptable.”
In a press statement released on Sunday, Prince Oyedepo expressed grave concern over the safety of residents and travelers in the region, particularly in Irepodun, Ifelodun, and Ekiti Local Government Areas. He urged the Kwara State Government and security agencies to immediately intensify efforts to curb the menace and ensure that affected communities can live without fear.
“Our people deserve to go about their daily lives without the constant threat of abduction or violence,” Oyedepo said. “The security of lives and property is the first responsibility of any government. I call on the authorities to deploy all necessary resources to tackle this scourge head-on and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Prince Oyedepo, who has long championed grassroots development and empowerment initiatives through his foundation, warned that the wave of insecurity could derail economic growth and discourage investment in Kwara South.
“I believe a comprehensive approach that addresses both security and the root causes of crime is essential,” he added. “We must not only chase criminals but also create opportunities for our youth to thrive legitimately.”
He also called for long-term solutions beyond emergency interventions, including strengthening community policing, investing in local intelligence gathering, and improving socio-economic conditions that often fuel criminal activities.
