The founder of The Adekunle Oyedepo Foundation and youth empowerment advocate, Prince Adekunle Oyedepo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for launching the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA)—a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with essential skills and generating millions of job opportunities.
The official launch of NiYA took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima GCON representing President Tinubu. The initiative seeks to bridge the widening skills gap in the country while providing Nigerian youths with opportunities to excel in an evolving global economy.
Prince Adekunle Oyedepo, in his congratulatory message, described NiYA as a “groundbreaking initiative that aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians.” He noted that the President had promised to create sustainable opportunities for youth, and NiYA is a bold step in fulfilling that promise.
“I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for his visionary leadership in launching NiYA. This initiative is a testament to his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and national development. By equipping young Nigerians with relevant skills, we are not only addressing unemployment but also laying the foundation for a prosperous future,” he stated.
Prince Oyedepo also extended his commendation to the Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, for playing a crucial role in the realization of this impactful project. “The successful launch of NiYA highlights the Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerian youths are empowered with the right tools to succeed. I commend the Minister for this significant achievement,” he added.
A key highlight of the NiYA launch was the awarding of ₦1 million each to six beneficiaries—one from each geopolitical zone—who successfully completed training during the Academy’s test phase. This startup package aims to support young entrepreneurs and skilled individuals in becoming self-reliant.
Prince Oyedepo urged Nigerian youths to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by NiYA. “Skill acquisition is the key to unlocking limitless potential. The Nigerian Youth Academy offers young people a platform to learn, grow, and secure their future. I encourage every young Nigerian to embrace this initiative and position themselves for success,” he advised.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth development initiatives, emphasizing that a skilled and empowered youth population is the driving force behind national progress.
With the launch of NiYA, the Tinubu-led administration has set a clear path for Nigerian youths to thrive. Prince Oyedepo expressed optimism that the Academy will transform the lives of countless young people and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.
