- as he meets stakeholders across Moro LGA
Former President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has again, charged the people of Kwara North senatorial district to support and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s governorship candidate and other flagbearers of the party in the February 25 and March 11 elections.
He said voting Alhaji Shuaib Yaman Abdullahi of the PDP as the next Governor remains the best option for the people of Kwara North and the State at large.
According to him, no other candidate can assure Kwara North of better benefits and development than Abdullahi who hails from the zone and have a better understanding of their plights and expectations.
A statement released by the Press Officer on Local Matters to Saraki, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, noted that the former Senate President gave the charge on Saturday, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State when he met leaders and stakeholders from the local government.
“As it is, this is the time and opportunity for Kwara North to also govern the State, and the PDP having observed that, zoned its governorship ticket to the North. Fortunately, the PDP fielded a good candidate. You should therefore ensure that no vote is cast for any other party, other than the PDP that has fielded your son as its governorship candidate,” he said.
Saraki who described the people of Kwara North as trust worthy people, said having fulfilled his promise and that of the party to ensure the district was given the opportunity to produce the next Governor of the State, it is the people’s turn to reciprocate by voting for the party and their son.
He further assured that if elected, the PDP would work for the interest of the people and the State. He thanked members and supporters of the PDP in Kwara State for believing and staying loyal with the party since the outcome of the 2019 general elections.
The PDP chieftain also decried the obvious marginalization of Kwara by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level and the failure of the state government to address the situation.
“It is quite unfortunate that the APC has no prominent Kwaran in its top hierarchy. That is unlike PDP where you have prominent Kwarans in top places.
“With the situation of things and the confidence of Nigerians in our Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will win and I don’t want Kwara to lag behind. We must align with the centre. We must be part of the Atiku victory.
“Don’t waste your votes and don’t misuse your votes. Vote for a party with national spread that will help us attract development to Kwara,” Saraki said.
Speaking further, the two-term former governor of Kwara, also lamented the state of the nation, saying that the current situation of things in the country was a manifestation of the lack of capacity and failure of the APC government, both at federal and state level.
He said: “Imagine what Nigerians continue to suffer daily. Kidnapping in South West, massive oil theft in South South, banditry in North West, insurgency in the North East, senseless killings in North Central, and ethnic agitation in the South East. No where is safe.
“Indeed, APC has failed the people of Nigeria. In the last few months, the masses have been experiencing untold hardship due to scarcity of fuel, high cost of food items, poverty and insecurity. No one who really loves Nigeria will vote APC again.
“Don’t reward failure. APC has failed, we cannot reward them by voting for them again.”
While in Malete, Saraki reminded the people of how he fought to make his administration establish the state university in the community and to ensure the university has all the needed facilities necessary to make it a first class higher institution.
He added that the university has added other projects and values to the town. He noted that the projects have been neglected since the PDP left office and that a new PDP government in the state and federal levels will dualise the roads, solve water problems and improve commerce in the area.
