In a somber announcement on Thursday night, Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, conveyed the sorrowful news of the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland. The revered monarch breathed his last at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, marking the end of his impactful reign.

Governor Makinde eulogized the late Olubadan as a paragon of royal excellence and a remarkable achiever who left an indelible legacy on Ibadaeeyland during his relatively brief tenure of just over two years. The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, and the entire populace of Ibadanland and Oyo State, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of Oba Dr. Balogun’s soul.

In his statement, Governor Makinde expressed profound sadness: “With total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing unto glory of our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland. A mighty Iroko has fallen; Oba Dr. Balogun has joined the ancestors.”
