Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, announced that the partially completed 250-bed specialist hospital in Abeokuta, inherited from the previous administration, will begin operations in phases, with a partial opening in March 2025 and full services by June 2025.
During the handover ceremony, the governor revealed that the hospital will be completed and managed under a concession agreement with Viewpoint Health Management Services and Pan African Capital Holdings, in partnership with HealthShare South Africa. This partnership will ensure that the hospital operates to global standards, featuring advanced facilities, cutting-edge technology, and affiliations with the Abuja Medical Centre of Excellence managed by King’s College Hospital.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that the hospital’s state-of-the-art services aim to reduce reliance on foreign medical tourism and foster growth in Ogun State’s healthcare sector. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing bids to renovate 74 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) in collaboration with the World Bank, with further expansion pending approval from AFREXIM.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, praised the governor’s leadership, while representatives from Pan African Capital Holdings and Viewpoint HealthShare, South Africa, expressed commitment to delivering a top-tier medical facility on schedule.
