The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Saturday, August 27, 2022, said that beginning next week, the war on illegal land sales and land grabbing will be intensified and urged people occupying government land illegally to vacate such property immediately.

Obaseki gave the order while inspecting the facility of men of the Special Forces in Benin City, deployed to the State to arrest the incidence of illegal land sales and land grabbing.

According to the Governor, “Recall that we have had the lingering issue of illegal land sales and land grabbing in the State and we did inform you that the government is taking action.

“We now have a detachment of the special forces that will work closely with the State government to arrest the incidence of illegal land sales and land grabbing over the next few months.”

He advised: “For those who collected land illegally, especially government’s land like schools, they had better move out because with this special force we are going to those communities to recover the property and prosecute the people involved.”
