In a somber ceremony held at his hometown in Isiokpo, Rivers State, tears flowed freely as the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and son Chizi were laid to rest on Saturday. The funeral service, which took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, saw the gathering of notable dignitaries from across the nation, including Governors Siminalayi Fubara, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Douye Diri, as well as business mogul Aliko Dangote, former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi, and other prominent figures.

Herbert Wigwe, the former group chief executive officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, along with his wife and son, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in California in February. The crash, which also claimed the lives of three other passengers, sent shockwaves through the nation.

The funeral procession marked the conclusion of a six-day mourning period, with dignitaries such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors from various states, and influential figures from the business and political spheres paying their respects.

The emotional ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the impact left by Herbert Wigwe and his family, not only in the banking industry but also in the hearts of those who knew them.
