In celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2024, Prince Adekunle Oyedepo, founder of The Adekunle Oyedepo Foundation, and youth advocate, has called on Nigerian youths to actively engage with the numerous youth-friendly initiatives launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. In a statement released on Monday, Prince Oyedepo emphasized the importance of these programs in addressing critical issues such as unemployment, skills development, and economic empowerment among the nation’s youth.

Highlighting the array of opportunities available, Prince Oyedepo pointed to key initiatives like the National Youth Investment Fund and the Presidential Digital Economy Program, which have been specifically designed to support young Nigerians in realizing their full potential. “The Tinubu administration has made significant strides in creating an environment where young people can thrive. It is now up to us, the youth, to seize these opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation,” he stated.

In his statement, Prince Oyedepo also took the opportunity to commend the Minister of State for Youths, Ayodele Olawande, for his exceptional service and dedication to the youth of Nigeria. He praised Minister Olawande for his hands-on approach and relentless efforts in ensuring that the initiatives not only reach the youth but also produce tangible results.

“Minister Ayodele Olawande has demonstrated exemplary leadership in championing the cause of Nigerian youth. His tireless work has ensured that the programs set out by the government are not just on paper but are being implemented effectively and are making a real impact in the lives of our young people,” Prince Oyedepo remarked.

The International Youth Day 2024, which focuses on the theme “Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”, has raised discussions centred on how to harness the energy and creativity of young Nigerians to drive sustainable economic growth and social progress.

Prince Oyedepo urged the youth to remain proactive, informed, and engaged, stressing that their active participation is crucial for the success of these initiatives and the future prosperity of the nation. “The future of Nigeria is in our hands. We must take responsibility and make the most of the opportunities available to us. By doing so, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Nigeria for generations to come,” he concluded.

The commendation of Minister Olawande was met with widespread approval, acknowledging his critical role in advancing the youth agenda in Nigeria. As the nation continues to confront various socio-economic challenges, the involvement of its youth, supported by dedicated leaders and robust initiatives, will be key to achieving lasting progress.
