Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya have donated fifty million naira to support the movement of the Internally dislplace Persons IDPs of the recent Lunguda and Waja communal clash to go back to their respective ancestral homes.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state disclosed this while reading out a communique christened “The Numan Accord” signed by the two governors and Kwandi Nungurya as well as Bala Waja after a peace meeting that held at Government Loadge Numan on Wednesday.
He said the meeting agreed that the two communities cannot be separated having lived and inter-married for centuries and all internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps should be closed within the next one week and people returned back to their homes’
“All militia and hunter groups are hereby disbanded and their activities proscribed in both communities of the two States and that leaders and elders in both communities of both States shall prevail on their youths and restrain them from causing any distraction and participating in violence.
“That religious leaders should mount and sustain the campaign for peace in both communities which shall also be taken up by youth groups from both communities in the two States, the communique said.
The governments have also resolved that a committee for the rebirth of peace and sustaining it among Lunguda and Waja in both States be raised to comprise the deputy governors as co-chairmen and other stakeholders and traditional rulers as members.
