Relief has come the way of persons whose vehicles were seized for violating the State of Osun Government’s COVID-19 lockdown directive, as Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has directed that their vehicles be released to them.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the governor had in his magnanimity pardoned the violators and ordered that their vehicles be released to them.

Oyebamiji said: “This is to announce to the public that the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has pardoned all those whose vehicles (cars, buses, motorcycles, tricycles, trucks, etc.) were impounded for violating the lockdown directive of the State Government which was put in place to curb further spread of COVID-19 in the State.

“The owners of the impounded vehicles are therefore to report to the different Police formations in the State where their vehicles were taken to, with proof of ownership, starting from 12:00 noon on Monday, 18th May 2020 for the release of their vehicles.”

The SSG, however, emphasised that the governor’s gesture only applies to vehicle owners who violated the State Government’s directive since the lockdown commenced till date.

He said Governor Oyetola warned that henceforth, any individual caught violating the lockdown guidelines would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“The State Government is using this medium to caution its citizens and residents to ensure that they observe all government’s regulations and guidelines put in place to protect the State in the face of the pandemic,” the SSG added.
