Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has launched an empowerment initiative for 10,520 people across the state, fulfilling his administration’s vow to promote youth and women’s welfare in 2021.
The initiative tagged Adamawa State Social Support Program (ADSSP) was organised by Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation And Wealth Creation Agency PAWECA.
Governor Umaru Fintiri said the programme will promote economic empowerment and built the capacity of youths and women.
He announced that, by October this year, the government will flag off a Two Year program called NG-CARES As part of the Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus.
The Head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello praised Governor Umaru Fintiri’s commitment towards reducing the poverty rate in the state from 74.5 per cent to zero levels.
Governor Fintiri has approved the reopening of five of the ten vocational skill acquisition centres in Adamawa that were built by the Nyako-led administration, according to Hajiya Bello.
The Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Iya James said the programme is the first phase and lauded Governor Fintiri for empowering youths and women.
In his vote of thanks of behalf of the beneficiaries,Dahiru Mahmud Fufore thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for empowering them and promised to live up to expectations.
Among the dignitaries that attend the program are Deputy Governor Mr Crowther Seth, SSG Malam Bashir Ahmad, Commissioners, Advisers, local government chairmen, PDP Chairman Barrister AT Shehu, organising secretary Hamza Madagali and order top government functionaries.
