Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has been awarded with the honourary fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors ( NIQS) for his commitment to transparency and good governance.

Presenting the award to the Governor in Abuja, the NIQS President, Mr. Michael Shonobi maintained that after a dispassionate monitoring of Inuwa’s incredible performance in the last three and half years, the Institute decided to honour him as way of encouraging him to continue with the good work.

He described the economic reforms and infrastructural development of the Governor Inuwa Yahaya- led administration as sublime and futuristic that will eventually serve as a platform for the improvement of livelihood of the people in particular and the economic status of the State in general.

“We are well aware that Gombe State under your leadership has been crowned as number one in the ease of doing business in the country; so the institute is proud of this and so many other live- changing reforms you are championing”.

QS Shonobi suggested to Governor Inuwa Yahaya to look into the possibility of creating a department for Quantity Survey in the State’s Ministry of Works.

Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors for choosing him among many eminent Nigerians as a fellow of the professional body.

While promising to continuously work in partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, the Gombe State Governor said the honourary fellowship will spur him to do more for the people of the state.

Former Minister of State for Power and former President of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Malam Murtala Aliyu while commenting said, Inuwa’s fellowship award was to be presented to him during the Institute’s National Conference and Annual General Meeting which held recently in Lagos with the theme; “Infrastructure Cost Management: Contemporary Issues and Emerging Trends”, but that due to some pressing official engagements, he was unable to make it to the event, hence their visit to honour him in his office.
