Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been assigned to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the upcoming 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas. This decision comes after Vice President Kashim Shettima encountered a technical fault with his aircraft, prompting a detour advised by the Presidential Air Fleet.
Vice President Shettima, while unable to attend the summit due to these unforeseen circumstances, will continue fulfilling his national duties.
The summit, set to convene at the prestigious Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, is poised to gather a distinguished assembly of political and business leaders from Africa, the United States, and beyond. The agenda includes high-level dialogues, networking opportunities, and plenary sessions aimed at fostering economic cooperation and delving into investment prospects between the United States and African nations.
A lineup of prominent African heads of state is anticipated at the event, including President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Joao Lourenço of Angola, President Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi of Botswana, President José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho.
This substitution underscores Nigeria’s active engagement in enhancing economic ties with the United States and underscores the significance of this summit in fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
