The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has announced the donation of N50 million to traders of Kantin Kwari textile market affected by flooding in Kano.
It’s reported that goods worth millions of naira were destroyed by floods at the market at the weekend.
Mr Abubakar, who is a former vice president of Nigeria, made the donation on Monday at a grand reception of Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, who defected to the PDP in Kano.
Announcing the donation in a short speech, Mr Abubakar commiserated with the affected traders.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with traders of Kantin Kwari textile market. We have heard about the calamity that befell your market.
“We really feel for you and as such, I announce the donation of N50 million to them,” Mr Abubakar said.
