FG Reiterates Commitment to Empowering Nigerian Youths for Socioeconomic Progress

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Youth Development, reiterated its dedication to enhancing the prospects of Nigerian youths in driving the nation’s socioeconomic advancement forward.

During a courtesy visit in Abuja on Thursday, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Donuma Ahmed, expressed enthusiasm for bolstering Nigerian youths’ roles in the country’s development alongside Yunus Sonmez, the director-general of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF).

Ahmed emphasized, “We are open to innovative ideas and initiatives that empower our youth and foster global networking opportunities for them.”

He further stated the federal government’s willingness to collaborate with ICYF to implement impactful youth empowerment programs, aiming to cultivate productivity and self-reliance among the younger generation.

ICYF’s director-general, Sonmez, headquartered in Turkey, highlighted the organization’s focus on economic, social, and cultural growth initiatives. He also encouraged ministers of youth from Sub-Saharan Africa to engage with ICYF’s youth empowerment program.

Sonmez’s visit to Nigeria primarily revolves around planning an iftar (Ramadan breakfast) program and fostering relationships with relevant authorities, stating, “Our goal is to enhance collaborations and develop meaningful partnerships.”
