Exclusive: Hundreds of Kwara APC members plan last minute defection to PDP

Hundreds of the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State are scheduled to exit the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, a day to the election.

The last minute defection, according to informed sources, was planned to shake the ruling party in the State to its foundation, as many key members across the State have made up their minds to leave the APC.

One of the intending defectors who spoke to this medium in confidence said several meetings have already been held to perfect all that would happen on Friday.

“Those of us who know already that Kwara APC as presently constituted cannot augur well for our political future have decided to move out of the party. We’ve been perfecting the plans for a while, but we won’t move until we get our share of the campaign largesse latest by Friday,” the source said.

Meanwhile, encourage by the recent momentum in the PDP, this medium learnt that some members of other fringe political parties, including YPP and ADC, would also be joining the PDP ahead of the Saturday poll.
