The Social Democratic Party has rejected the results of the Ekiti state governorship election.
The party, according to its collation agent, Barrister Owoseni Ajayi, threatened to approach the tribunal for justice.

Owoseni who spoke to Daily Trust at the Collation centre in Ado Ekiti, alleged that the election was marred by state sponsored violence and votes buying.
“The election is an embarrassment to Nigeria as voters were openly induced with money by the APC. This is sad, purchasing the conscience of the people because of the level of poverty in the state. We saw this even at the presidential primaries conducted by APC and PDP.
“Votings in areas where SDP were leading were also deliberately destroyed by state sponsored violence. We are going to tribunal, this cannot stand,” he said.
He maintained that the candidate of the SDP, Segun Oni at different fora spoke against vote buying.
“We didn’t buy any vote. If there is any evidence to that, prove it to the world,” he said.
He also declined to sign the final result sheet of the poll.
However, the agent of the APC, Hon. Kayode Babade, rejected the allegation. He said vote buying is strange to the political vocabulary of his party.
“He who alleges must prove. The people voted to their conscience because we presented a good product. Someone that will hit the ground running from day one. A party that was barely formed two weeks ago cannot win an election,” he said.
He promised that Oyebanji will not disappoint the people as he has the experience to lead and deliver the dividends of democracy.
The election was won by Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji of APC, who had 187,057 votes. Oni came second with 82,211 votes while Bisi Kolawole of PDP had 67,457 votes.
